Tuesday, April 24 (TOMORROW!) is the announcement of the 50 semi-finalists for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award for Young Adult novels (cut down from 250). Do I think I’ll make the cut? Hell no. Will I feel like a complete and total loser when my name isn’t on the list? Hopefully not, but the ego is a tricky thing. In an effort to boost said ego monster, I’ve already drafted a query letter to an agent and have it sitting in my draft folder, waiting to hit send. Although this contest with Amazon has been AWESOME, it’s also been really stressful sitting in limbo land. To quote The Princess Bride, “I hate wait.”
So, either the wait ends tomorrow and I can breathe a sigh of relief, or it begins anew and I won’t be able to breathe at all. Good thing I’ll be at a meeting most of the day tomorrow and I won’t have to think about whether or not the list has been posted yet. Who am I kidding? I’m going to be a nervous wreck!
