I don’t often name drop, cause let’s face it, I don’t know anyone! Ha, but I’m dropping names today. Well, one name: Monica Wood.

(From her Amazon Page) “Monica Wood is the author of Description, two novels and several teaching guides. She has written extensively for Writer’s Digest Magazine and The Writer. Her short stories have appeared in many publications, including Redbook and Glimmer Train, and have been anthologized in Sudden Fiction International, Best American Mystery Stories, 1997 and The Pushcart Prize, 1999. She lives in Portland, Maine.” EEK!
As part of my Masters Program, I’ve been invited to a morning workshop where she will lead the writing discussion! Heaven! For my writer friends out there, if you don’t own this book: The Pocket Muse, you need to. Go now. I’ll wait.

This book was required reading at one of my very first grad classes and still remains one of my most often ‘go to’ books when I have a writing slump. It’s chock full of tips and writing prompts in a very non-traditional writing book style. It’s very visual. AND she has a second pocket book out too if you love that one!

I had the honor of taking a week long class with her last summer and let me tell you, this woman knows her stuff. She is a joy and a gem and I can’t wait to see what she gets out of me tomorrow!
So think of me tomorrow while I’m fan girling this amazing author!
