The scariest period for an author

The week leading up to a release, is by far, the scariest period for a lot of authors. What should be a week of excitement and anticipation is often replaced with worry and trepidation.

Did I upload the right version?

What if I missed a typo?

Did I miss a plot hole?

What if it’s not spicy enough for readers?

What if it’s TOO spicy?

What if no one finds this new pen name?

What if my ARC readers hate it?

Ah, self-doubt. A writer’s constant companion. What if, instead of the doubt, I looked at those fears in a different light. Flipped the story. Changed the narrative I feed myself.

I loaded the right version.

Typos happen even with the best editing and you have the power to fix them as an indie author.

Plot holes are just opportunities for future story exploration within the series.

The spice is exactly where it needs to be for your story.

A new name will take time. As will a new series. You are only beginning this path. Breathe.

Only then, can the shoulders unclench. The stress levels drop. You remember you’ve done this before. 16 other times.

As for what the ARC readers will think, well, so far, they seem to like it. 🙂

5 Stars– “This isn’t your classic left at the altar story. Not really. Sure, it starts out that way, but how it ends…

The more we got to know Shawn, the more I loved him. And the chemistry between him and Jasmine is off the charts. I also enjoyed the complexity of Jasmine’s character. She isn’t a Mary Sue. Her issues run deep and they creep up at the worst times. I can’t wait for the honeymoon!” -Sherri Hayes

5 Stars- “Where You Left Me, Vol. 1 was a great read by Dani Bannister. Before I say anything else, I have to say I absolutely loved reading this book. I loved Jasmine’s story and seriously can’t wait to find out what happens next. Jasmine Fairchild was left at the altar. But she’s determined to not let her cheating ex ruin everything. She is going on her honeymoon to the Bahamas, but the only thing she was missing was the groom. But there was a mysterious cute man in the crown that was willing to go through with a fake wedding. It doesn’t hurt that he will be going on an all expenses paid cruise. She never thought that she wouldn’t be able to keep her hands off her fake husband. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more in this series.” -Ashley Hedden

5 Stars- This was my first read by Dani Bannister and it definitely won’t be the last!!! What a ride! I was hooked within the first pages of the story and when I reached the end, I wanted to immediately start reading Volume 2!!! Sadly, I will have to wait in anticipation until it’s released. You don’t want to miss out on this spunky and spicy story!!! I absolutely loved it! ” -Jennifer Greeley

5 Stars-“I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy for an honest review… Jasmine just got left at the altar while her fiance ran away with a bridesmaid… total cliche…. but when Jasmine decides to make lemonade out of lemons the adventure starts. What starts as an insane plea turns into an adventure with a complete stranger….. oh my Dani Bannister has me on my toes… one minute laughing, one minute crying, one minute hotter than hades from the fire between these two strangers. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to see what happens next!!!” -Cassy Bunnell

So, this week, I’m going to take my own advice, and enjoy this week. This is a fun book with engaging characters. It won’t be for everyone, but I didn’t write it for everyone. I wrote it for people who enjoy a sexy contemporary romance. If that’s you, then you might enjoy Where You Left Me, Vol. 1.

Yes. Yes, she could.

Before I go, I just wanted to let you know of two things. 1. Today (2-4-22) is the LAST day to enter the Goodreads Giveaway that I have going on for this book. You can enter here:
