It feels like just yesterday that I was posting about the release of Vol. 1 of Where You Met Me and now Vol. 2 is gearing up to go to my editor! I’m currently in the middle of edits of Vol. 3 as well. This series is full-steam ahead. The pre-order for Vol. 2 is already up and the pre-order for Vol. 3 isn’t far behind.
Wait! Three of five covers? Where are the other two? They are mocked up and sitting in the cover designer’s schedule. Since they aren’t coming out immediately, I’ve booked her for a bit later in the year for the last two covers, but you can probably pick up a theme, no?
Hold up. You need to hire a cover designer just to change the color of some flowers?
- Yes. My skillset is in wording, not Photoshop.
- It’s actually more than just changing the color of a flower. I’m also paying her for the rights to use that photo, for her to add the tag line, adjust the color of the title, to put the text on the back cover, to adjust the spine to fit properly, to align the wrap, and provide the right size PDF to match my final page count. There’s math involved in that. MATH! That’s a level of braining that I don’t possess.
- Branding help. She helps me look at an overarching theme and helps maintain the consistency of the brand for Dani Bannister.
Accordingly, I pay designers for covers just as I pay editors for their expertise on my manuscript. I know my lane and I stay in it.
So, if you haven’t read Vol. 1 yet, now is a good time to get caught up because their story is just beginning!
You can also snag the prequel of this series right here on my website for FREE!
That’s all the news for today. I’ll catch you later this week!
